The latest version of Clutch – Driving optimized is here! Our amazing beta testers were growing tired of having to manually start each trip, and although we assured them we were hard at work to solve the problem, we realized it was an even bigger headache for our users than initially anticipated…so we kicked it into high gear and are happy to announce the release of v0.0.4 with features you’ll love like Autopair, Autostart and Autoend!
Our app is now smart enough to connect to a nearby OBD device to start recording a trip after the vehicle is turned on. You’ll no longer have to start a new trip and what’s even better is we’ll end the trip for you too! How? We’re glad you asked. The app will disconnect and end the trip once your device is out of range (For example, if you walked into the grocery store) and send an alert with your latest trip information, like MPG and other lovable features Clutch is known for. However, please note in order to utilize this functionality, you’ll need to have previously paired the OBD device to your phone and have completed at least one trip. And if you’re worried about the effect on battery power, you can turn Autopair on and off at any time using the Settings menu.
In addition to Autopair, Autostart, and Autoend, we also made small fixes to allow better support for older devices, including fine-tuning GPS calculations. Our next release includes features like the location of where you last parked the car as well as PID error codes for easier diagnostics. As always, we’ll keep you updated as to when these features become available.
